Nakhon Si Thammarat

Nakhon Si Thammarat is with over 1.5 million inhabitants a well populated and rich province in the south of Thailand. About half of its land is used for agriculture, coconut palms and oil palms.
The region and the city of Nakhon Si Thammarat was over 10,000 years ago already colonized by humans and used for for trade on the sea.

There are large forest areas and natural parks, but the biggest attraction is the temple complex of Wat Phra Mahathat in Nakhon Si Thammarat directly.


Places of interest:

On the emblem of Nakhon Si Thammarat is in the middle of the Phra Chedi Boromathat, from the ancient temple complex of Wat Phra Mahathat. The chedi is surrounded by the 12 Chinese zodiac signs that represent the 12 regions in the south of Thailand.
