First and foremost the economy of Cha-Am lives by tourism. We don't mean Europeans and Americans, because Cha-Am is a well known seaside resort in Thailand and every weekend, thousands of families from Bangkok travel to Cha -Am in to recover and spend a nice weekend.
In the foreigner tourist high season, which lasts from November to February, many tourists come from Europe. They travel from many nations, like Germany, Danmark, Norway, England and Sweden. Many of them have a small house in Cha-Am purchased to to spend the retirement, or just as a holiday house.
The price structure is relatively normal in Cha-Am and it is not overpriced as in many other famous tourist destinations in Thailand.
Cha-Am and the surrounding has many tourist attractions worth seeing. Besides the various markets which are always worth to visit, is the fishing village of Cha-Am. The fishing village was the origin point of the development of the city and offers some wonderful fish restaurants romantic walks.
The Forest Park Cha-Am is just a few minutes away and there you can see many birds and mammals, but you can also make long walks and eat in the the attached restaurant tasty Thai food.
The figure park in Puek Tian Park is just a few kilometers away from the city of Cha-Am. Here you can see the figures of the fantasy novel Phra Apain Mani in life size standing in water as statues.
A few miles south of Cha-Am is the largest teak wood palace in Thailand, Phra Ratchaniwet Maruek Thaywan. You can walk miles of wooden floors to the sea.
Direction inland, after a short time you find a mountain, where every evening fly out fmore than 10 million bats. This unique spectacle of nature you can enjoy first hand when you visit the bat mountain in Cha-Am.
